The LUTRON SFS5EBWH is a single-pole, slide-to-off variable fan speed control from the Skylark product line. Rated at 120 volts and 5 amps, it provides fully variable speed control for solid-state ceiling paddle fans and exhaust fans. Moving the slider upward turns the fan on and increases speed; moving it downward reduces speed and shuts the fan off. Licensed electricians and skilled HVAC technicians install this control as a direct wall-box replacement for standard toggle or rotary fan switches. It ships in white to match common residential wallplate finishes.
This control is suited for residential applications where a homeowner or facility manager wants stepless fan speed adjustment from a single wall location. It is appropriate for ceiling paddle fans with solid-state variable speed motors and for exhaust fans requiring variable airflow. It is not rated for use with 3-speed ceiling paddle fans that rely on switched capacitor or multi-tap motor wiring. Typical installations include bedrooms, living areas, and commercial spaces where a single-pole switching location controls one fan circuit.
Designed for use with solid-state variable speed ceiling paddle fans and exhaust fans. Not compatible with 3-speed ceiling paddle fans that use switched capacitor or multi-tap motor wiring.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. Turn off the branch circuit breaker and verify the circuit is de-energized with a non-contact voltage tester before removing the existing switch or control. This is a single-pole device and must not be used in three-way wiring configurations. Do not exceed the 5 amp load rating; oversizing the connected fan load can damage the control and create a fire hazard.
