The LUTRON ELECTRONICS SCR-15-GFST-TP is a 15-amp ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) receptacle with tamper-resistant shutters, designed for in-wall installation in residential and light commercial electrical systems. The tamper-resistant feature uses spring-loaded shutters that block insertion of foreign objects into the slots, meeting current NEC requirements for child safety. The GFCI protection monitors the circuit for ground fault current and trips within milliseconds to reduce shock hazard. Licensed electricians install this device as a code-compliant outlet in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and other wet or damp locations.
This receptacle is suited for in-wall installation wherever GFCI protection and tamper resistance are required by code. Typical applications include new construction and retrofit projects in residential bathrooms, kitchens, laundry areas, garages, and outdoor-rated enclosures. It is also appropriate for light commercial spaces subject to NEC requirements for GFCI-protected circuits in high-moisture or high-traffic areas. The unit is sold individually and is intended for use in standard single-gang electrical boxes.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-install in-wall GFCI receptacle for standard single-gang electrical boxes in residential and light commercial applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. Always shut off the circuit breaker supplying the outlet circuit and verify the circuit is de-energized with a non-contact voltage tester before beginning any wiring work. A standard flathead and Phillips screwdriver, wire strippers, and a voltage tester are the typical tools required. Do not exceed the 15-amp rating of this device by connecting it to a circuit protected by a larger overcurrent device.
