This spider fits within the L110 series jaw coupling system and serves as the drive element seated between two opposing hubs. It measures 4.25 inches overall length and 3.31 inches outside diameter. The spider absorbs torsional shock and dampens vibration between coupled shafts. It is rated for up to 2,268 inch-pounds of torque. Maintenance technicians, millwrights, and mechanical contractors install these elements during coupling service or scheduled preventive maintenance on rotating equipment.
This spider element is used in L110 series jaw couplings found in light industrial and commercial applications such as pump drives, fan assemblies, compressors, and conveyor systems. To complete a functional coupling assembly, two L110 hubs and one spider are required. The Hytrel material makes this spider appropriate for applications involving moderate shock loads, temperature variation, and exposure to common industrial fluids. Installation is performed by millwrights or qualified mechanical technicians. De-energize and lock out the drive equipment before disassembling the coupling. Remove both hubs from the shaft ends, replace the worn spider element, and reassemble with the hubs properly seated against the spider lobes. Verify shaft alignment to manufacturer tolerances before returning the equipment to service, as misalignment accelerates spider wear.
