The LOCTITE LOC39561 is a silicon carbide grease-mix lapping compound designed for precision surface finishing and valve lapping applications in trade and industrial settings. Sold under the Clover brand line, this compound uses 800 grit silicon carbide abrasive suspended in a grease carrier to allow controlled, consistent material removal on metal surfaces. The 800 grit rating makes it suitable for fine finishing work where surface flatness and seating accuracy are critical. Each unit contains 1 pound of compound. Licensed plumbers, machinists, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers and end users of this product.
This lapping compound is used when reconditioning valve seats, lapping pump faces, fitting precision mating surfaces, and performing other metal-to-metal seating operations in plumbing, industrial, and mechanical maintenance applications. It is appropriate for both shop bench work and field service use where a reliable, fine-grit abrasive paste is needed to achieve a leak-free or precision-fitted mating surface. The grease-mix formulation keeps the abrasive in place during the lapping process and washes off cleanly after the work is complete.
Designed for use on metal-to-metal mating surfaces where fine abrasive lapping is required, including valve seats, pump faces, and similar precision components in plumbing and mechanical maintenance applications.
Lapping compounds are applied by licensed plumbers, machinists, and qualified mechanical technicians. Always depressurize and isolate the system before disassembling valves or pump components for lapping work. Apply a thin, even coat of compound to the lapping tool or surface and work in controlled strokes to avoid uneven material removal. After lapping is complete, thoroughly clean all compound residue from mating surfaces before reassembly and system pressurization.
