The LOCHINVAR L-CGN275100A is a self-cleaning commercial gas water heater rated at 275,000 BTU/h with a nominal capacity of 100 gallons (98 gallons rated storage volume). It runs on natural gas with intermittent electronic ignition, eliminating the standing pilot to reduce fuel consumption. The unit features a glass-lined tank with multiple anode rods, each with a stainless steel core, to resist corrosion and extend service life. A factory-installed, CSA-certified, ASME-rated T and P relief valve is included. The self-cleaning system activates when cold water enters through the front connection, reducing sediment accumulation and maintaining rated thermal efficiency at 80 percent. Licensed plumbers and commercial HVAC technicians are the primary installers.
This water heater is designed for indoor commercial applications including new construction and replacement projects. Its compact, low-profile design is up to one foot shorter than the models it replaces. Inlet and outlet connections are located at the top, front, and rear, providing flexibility for tight mechanical rooms. The unit can be installed standalone, manifolded with other units, or connected to external storage tanks, making it adaptable to a range of commercial hot water system configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for commercial indoor natural gas water heaters in the 100-gallon class, with support for standalone, manifolded, and storage-tank-connected configurations.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified mechanical contractor in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC). Shut off the gas supply and cold water supply before disconnecting any existing unit. The 120-volt electrical connection must comply with NEC requirements, and the circuit should be de-energized before wiring. Verify adequate combustion air and venting for the flue prior to startup.
