The LOCHINVAR CWN500PM-F9 is a copper-fin atmospheric gas commercial water heater rated at 500,000 BTU/h input. It uses an intermittent spark ignition firing control (F9 configuration) and a copper finned tube heat exchanger to transfer heat efficiently while reducing the risk of leaks. The unit operates on 120 volts and is designed for high-demand commercial hot water applications where a separate storage tank is paired with the heater for full system performance. A factory-installed ASME temperature and pressure relief valve ships with the unit. Licensed plumbers and commercial HVAC technicians are the primary installers for this equipment.
This water heater is built for commercial installations that require a reliable atmospheric vent configuration. The built-in draft hood accommodates limited overhead clearance, and the front-sliding heat exchanger design provides direct access for routine service. The Loch-Heat ceramic tile lining reduces overall unit weight compared to conventional linings. With a water flow rate of 30 GPM and a recovery rate of 693 gallons per hour at a 70 degrees F rise, the CWN500PM-F9 is suited for hotels, schools, laundries, and similar high-volume commercial facilities. Max working pressure is 160 psi and max water hardness is 25 grains.
The CWN500PM-F9 uses the F9 intermittent spark ignition firing control, which is standard for the Lochinvar CW 315-500 series copper-fin atmospheric water heaters. This unit pairs with a separate storage tank as part of a complete commercial hot water system.
Installation must be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified commercial HVAC technician in accordance with local plumbing codes and the applicable fuel gas code (IFGC or local equivalent). Shut off the gas supply and disconnect electrical power at the circuit before beginning any service or replacement work. The vent connection requires a 10-inch vent pipe; verify clearances and vent material ratings before connecting. Water connections are 2 inches and the drain connection is 3/4 inch — confirm existing piping sizes match before installation.
