The LITTLE GIANT 599123 is a low-voltage auxiliary in-line condensate overflow safety switch designed to protect air conditioning and refrigeration equipment from drain pan overflow. When condensate levels in the drain pan rise to a critical point, the switch interrupts the unit's control circuit and shuts the system down before water damage can occur. Rated for 48 volts AC/DC at 11 amps and compatible with both 50 and 60 Hz systems, this switch suits a wide range of residential and light commercial HVAC applications. The ABS plastic housing resists moisture and the corrosive environment of a condensate pan. HVAC technicians install this switch as a primary or supplemental safeguard in any system where drain blockage is a service concern.
The 599123 is suited for installation in the condensate drain pans of split-system air conditioners, package units, and refrigeration equipment. It is commonly added during preventive maintenance visits or as an upgrade when a system has a history of drain blockages. The 6-foot cord provides enough reach to route the switch lead to the low-voltage control circuit without additional extension. This switch is appropriate for both residential service and light commercial installations where condensate overflow protection is required by code or requested by the building owner.
Designed as an OEM-style auxiliary safety switch for air conditioning and refrigeration units with low-voltage control circuits operating at up to 48 volts AC/DC.
A licensed HVAC technician should install this switch in accordance with local mechanical codes and the equipment manufacturer's wiring diagram. Power down the air handler or refrigeration unit at the disconnect before wiring the switch into the low-voltage control circuit. The switch lead is typically wired in series with the thermostat circuit so that a high water condition interrupts the call for cooling. Do not install in circuits exceeding the rated voltage or amperage of the switch.
