The LITHONIA LIGHTING 263KU1 is a combination exit sign and emergency lighting unit designed for life-safety applications in commercial and institutional buildings. It features LED lamp technology for long service life and low power draw, a dual-head configuration for wide-area illumination, and a nickel cadmium battery backup to keep the sign operational during power outages. The black thermoplastic housing is suitable for surface mount or wall mount installation. Mounting hardware is included. This unit is installed by licensed electricians as part of an egress lighting system in compliance with local fire and building codes.
The 263KU1 is suited for corridors, stairwells, lobbies, and exit pathways in commercial, institutional, and light industrial facilities. The surface mount and wall mount capability gives installers flexibility in positioning the unit to meet egress illumination requirements. The two-head design allows the emergency light heads to be directed independently to cover the required exit path area. The nickel cadmium battery chemistry provides reliable backup power in demanding temperature conditions common to mechanical rooms and stairwells.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation combination exit and emergency sign for commercial egress lighting systems requiring surface or wall mount LED units with battery backup.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 700 and applicable local codes governing emergency lighting systems. Disconnect and lock out power to the circuit before wiring the unit. Follow the manufacturer wiring diagram supplied with the fixture and verify battery polarity before closing the housing. Test the unit in emergency mode after installation to confirm battery backup function and head aim coverage.
