The LINCOLN ELECTRIC KP3424-6 is a replacement pre-filter designed for use with the Viking PAPR (Powered Air-Purifying Respirator) system. Pre-filters extend the service life of primary filter cartridges by capturing larger particulates before they reach the main filtration media. This component is a direct service part intended for routine maintenance of Viking PAPR units. Weighing 1.4 pounds, the KP3424-6 is a single-unit package. Installation and replacement are performed by safety-qualified personnel or industrial hygienists as part of a structured respiratory protection program.
The KP3424-6 is suited for heavy-duty industrial and trades environments where airborne particulate exposure is a primary hazard. Listed applications include mining, railroad maintenance, automotive fabrication, construction and field erection, brewery and distillery operations, galvanized steel work, heavy equipment service, elevated temperature piping, armor plate work, gasification plants, and general metal fabrication involving dissimilar metals. It is appropriate wherever Viking PAPR units are deployed as part of a site respiratory protection plan.
Compatible with the Viking PAPR series respirator system as stated by the manufacturer. Suitable for use in mining, railroad maintenance, automotive, construction, brewery, distillery, galvanized steel, heavy fabrication, elevated temperature piping, gasification plant, armor plate, and general fabrication environments.
Pre-filter replacement on PAPR units should be performed by trained personnel in accordance with the site respiratory protection program and applicable OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 requirements. Power down or deactivate the PAPR blower unit before removing or installing any filter components. Follow the manufacturer service intervals and inspect the filter housing seal condition each time a pre-filter is replaced. Dispose of used pre-filters according to local regulations based on the contaminants present in the work environment.
