The LH DOTTIE LHD5 is a duct seal compound supplied in a 5-pound bag, formulated for sealing and weatherproofing electrical entry points where conduit and service equipment penetrate building envelopes. It meets UL applicable standards, making it a code-appropriate choice for residential and commercial electrical installations. Electricians and electrical contractors use this material to pack around conduit, service masts, junction boxes, and flashing penetrations to block air infiltration, moisture, and pests. The pliable compound fills irregular gaps without hardening, allowing future service access without destructive removal.
The LHD5 duct seal is suited for a wide range of electrical rough-in and service work. Common applications include sealing around service entrance conduit at weatherheads and service masts, packing junction box knockouts, and sealing conduit penetrations through roof flashings and exterior walls. It is used on both new construction and retrofit service upgrades where an air and moisture seal is required at conduit entry points. The material works with rigid metal conduit, EMT, PVC conduit, and similar raceway systems.
Designed for use with standard electrical conduit systems and service entrance equipment in residential and commercial applications, including service masts, junction boxes, and flashing penetrations.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with NEC requirements for sealing service entrance conduit penetrations. No special tools are required; the compound is packed by hand or with a putty knife into the void around conduit at the point of entry. Ensure the conduit and surrounding surface are free of standing water before applying. De-energize all circuits at the service point before working on or near service entrance equipment.
