The LEVITON TELCOM L7742-100 is a straight male strain relief fitting designed for cable and conduit management applications. It accepts a 2.5-inch NPT thread and accommodates cable or conductor bundles with an outer diameter ranging from 2.19 to 2.31 inches. Strain reliefs protect cables at entry and exit points by absorbing mechanical stress, preventing pull-through, and reducing wear at the cable jacket. This fitting is sold individually and is typically installed by electricians, low-voltage technicians, and telecom installers during panel builds, enclosure wiring, and cable termination work.
This strain relief is suited for use in electrical enclosures, junction boxes, telecom panels, and similar hardware assemblies where cables pass through a knockout or threaded port. The straight male configuration threads directly into a matching NPT-tapped opening or locknut-secured knockout. It is appropriate for both commercial and light industrial installations where cable protection and strain relief at the entry point are required by code or best practice.
Designed as an OEM-style strain relief for use with 2.5-inch NPT threaded enclosure knockouts and cable entry ports where cable outer diameters between 2.19 and 2.31 inches are present.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed electrician or low-voltage technician. De-energize the enclosure or panel before beginning work in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) lockout/tagout procedures. Thread the fitting into the NPT-tapped opening by hand first, then tighten with an appropriate wrench to secure the fitting without cracking the body. Ensure the cable jacket is fully captured within the strain relief grip before closing the assembly.
