The LEVITON TELCOM L7279 is a wire mesh strain relief fitting designed to protect wiring and cable from tension, vibration, and abrasion at the point of entry into enclosures, panels, or conduit bodies. The L7279 uses a 1/2 inch long NPT threaded body for secure installation into standard knockouts and threaded fittings. With a 0.38 inch mesh opening, this strain relief grips cable jackets and conductors to prevent pull-out and reduce stress on terminations. Electricians and low-voltage technicians install this type of hardware accessory during panel builds, junction box wiring, and equipment enclosure assembly.
This strain relief is suited for use in commercial and residential electrical installations where cable management and mechanical protection are required at conduit or enclosure entry points. It is appropriate for general wiring applications involving standard jacketed cable within the specified grip range. Hardware accessories of this type are commonly used during new construction, renovation wiring, and equipment service work by licensed electricians and data-communications technicians.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-install hardware accessory for standard 1/2 inch NPT knockout and threaded enclosure entry points in residential and commercial electrical applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician or qualified low-voltage technician. De-energize the circuit and enclosure before beginning work in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) lockout/tagout procedures. Thread the L7279 into the NPT fitting by hand and tighten with an appropriate wrench to achieve a secure, rattle-free fit without over-torquing the threads. Ensure the cable jacket is fully seated within the mesh grip before completing the installation.
