The LEVITON TELCOM GFTA1-I is a self-testing, audible-alarm GFCI receptacle rated at 15 amps and 125 volts. It features a tamper-resistant shutter mechanism that blocks foreign object insertion while still allowing standard two-prong and three-prong plugs. An integrated audible alert signals when the device has tripped or when the self-test function detects a wiring fault, giving installers and occupants immediate notification without requiring a visual inspection of the outlet face. Finished in ivory, it fits standard single-gang wallplates. Electricians install this receptacle in residential and light commercial applications where ground-fault protection is required by code.
This receptacle is suited for wet and damp location circuits including bathrooms, kitchens, garages, outdoor outlets, unfinished basements, and crawlspaces where NEC Article 210 mandates GFCI protection. The tamper-resistant feature satisfies NEC requirements for receptacles installed in dwelling-unit areas accessible to children. The audible self-test alarm reduces callbacks by alerting occupants when the device needs to be reset or replaced rather than silently failing in a tripped state.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation GFCI receptacle for standard 15-amp, 125-volt single-gang branch circuit applications requiring ground-fault protection.
A licensed electrician should install this receptacle in accordance with NEC Article 406 and all applicable local codes. De-energize the branch circuit at the panel and verify absence of voltage with a meter before wiring. Do not exceed the device amperage or voltage rating. After installation, press the TEST button to confirm proper GFCI operation and verify the audible alarm sounds on trip.
