The LEVITON MFG CO R51-T5225-0IS is a commercial-grade, tamper-resistant switch and outlet combination device rated at 15 amps. Built with a thermoplastic body and a steel mounting strap, it integrates a single-pole switch with a NEMA 5-15R receptacle in one unit. The receptacle includes an internal shutter mechanism that blocks contact access unless a two-prong plug is fully inserted simultaneously into both slots, preventing foreign objects such as hairpins and keys from making contact. This device is side-wired and accepts up to No. 12 copper wire. It is sold in a package of 10 and is finished in ivory.
This combination device is suited for commercial and residential electrical installations where space-saving control and outlet access are needed at a single box location. Typical applications include commercial offices, schools, healthcare facilities, and any environment requiring tamper-resistant receptacles per NEC code requirements. The single-pole switch controls a load independently while the 15-amp outlet remains available for standard plug-in devices. Licensed electricians install this device in standard single-gang boxes during new construction or retrofit work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-construction device compatible with standard single-gang electrical boxes requiring a 15-amp switch and outlet combination with NEMA 5-15R receptacle configuration.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. Always shut off the circuit breaker supplying the circuit before beginning any wiring work and verify the circuit is de-energized with a non-contact voltage tester. Side wiring terminals accept up to No. 12 copper wire only — do not use aluminum wiring. Tamper-resistant receptacles are required by NEC in specific occupancy types including dwelling units, schools, and healthcare facilities; verify local code requirements before installation.
