The LEVITON MFG CO R58-T5325-0DI is a decorative tamper resistant grounded duplex receptacle rated at 15 amps and 125 volts. It meets the 2008 NEC tamper resistant requirement through an internal shutter mechanism that blocks contact access unless a standard 2-prong plug is inserted simultaneously on both slots. This prevents insertion of foreign objects such as hair pins or keys. The receptacle carries a NEMA 5-15R configuration and is UL listed and CSA certified for tamper resistant devices. Electricians install this receptacle in residential and light commercial wiring applications where code compliance and occupant safety are required.
This receptacle is suited for residential new construction, renovation projects, and commercial spaces where the 2008 NEC or later tamper resistant outlet requirements apply. The decorative ivory finish integrates with standard decor-style wall plates. It ships in a package quantity of 10 units, making it practical for whole-home or multi-room installations. Both quick wire push-in terminals and side-wired screw terminals are available, giving installers flexibility depending on the wiring method used on the job.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation duplex receptacle compatible with standard 15-amp residential and light commercial branch circuits using NEMA 5-15R wiring configurations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the NEC and applicable local electrical codes. Always shut off the branch circuit breaker and verify the circuit is de-energized with a non-contact voltage tester before wiring. Use the side-wired screw terminals when wiring in compliance with jurisdictions that restrict push-in backstab connections on 15-amp circuits. Confirm the wall plate and cover are rated for the receptacle style before completing the installation.
