A built-in turn-knob switch is integrated directly into the body with open screw terminals for field wiring. The non-removable turn knob provides reliable on/off control without the risk of loss or misalignment during service. At 1-5/16 inches overall length, this is a compact, purpose-built socket suited for lighting circuits in demanding thermal environments. It is UL listed, confirming compliance with recognized electrical safety standards. Licensed electricians and qualified lighting technicians are the primary installers.
This socket is designed for applications where elevated ambient temperatures rule out standard thermoplastic sockets. Typical installations include heat lamps, appliance lighting, commercial luminaires, and enclosed fixture housings where operating temperatures routinely exceed standard rating thresholds. Wire selection must match the thermal environment: AWM plastic wire is rated to 105 degrees Celsius, AF asbestos wire to 150 degrees Celsius, and SF silicone wire to 200 degrees Celsius. Each wire type is appropriate for a different range of operating conditions, and the installer must select accordingly based on the fixture's sustained temperature.
