The LEVITON 8200-sgw is a hospital grade, extra heavy duty duplex receptacle rated for 15 amps at 125 volts with a 5-15R straight blade configuration. Built from impact-resistant nylon with nickel plated brass contacts and a nickel plated steel strap, this receptacle is self grounding and tamper-resistant. It is designed for demanding healthcare environments where outlet integrity, safety, and durability are required by code. Licensed electricians install this device as part of branch circuit wiring in patient care areas, operating rooms, and other critical-use locations.
This receptacle is suited for hospital, clinical, and other extra heavy duty commercial or institutional electrical installations requiring a 2-pole, 3-wire, 15-amp, 125-volt duplex outlet. It supports back and side wiring configurations, giving installers flexibility in device box termination. The 5-15R configuration is compatible with standard 15-amp straight blade plugs. Its tamper-resistant design meets requirements for patient care spaces and other occupancies where tamper resistance is mandated by the NEC.
Designed as a hospital grade, extra heavy duty 5-15R duplex receptacle for 15-amp, 125-volt branch circuits in institutional and commercial wiring applications. Compatible with standard NEMA 5-15P straight blade plugs per ANSI C73 and NEMA WD-6.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all applicable local codes. De-energize the branch circuit at the panel and verify absence of voltage with a meter before terminating wires. Hospital grade receptacles in patient care areas must be installed per NEC Article 517 requirements. Verify that the self grounding strap makes firm contact with a grounded metal device box; if a non-metallic box is used, a separate equipment grounding conductor connection is required.
