The LEGRAND WS-250-LA is a passive infrared (PIR) occupancy sensor designed to detect motion and automatically control connected lighting or loads. PIR technology reads heat signatures from occupants moving within the coverage zone, triggering the load on when presence is detected and off after a set vacancy period. This type of device is a standard component in energy-code-compliant lighting control installations across commercial and residential applications. Licensed electricians and electrical contractors are the typical installers for this class of sensor.
The WS-250-LA is suited for wall-switch installations where automatic on/off occupancy-based lighting control is required. Common applications include offices, restrooms, conference rooms, utility spaces, and similar areas where energy conservation and code compliance drive the control strategy. The sensor replaces a standard wall switch in an existing single-gang box, making it a straightforward retrofit or new-construction option.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation PIR occupancy sensor wall switch for standard single-gang residential and light commercial lighting control applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). Shut off circuit power at the breaker panel and verify the circuit is de-energized with a non-contact voltage tester before beginning work. The sensor is installed in place of a standard wall switch in a single-gang box. Follow the manufacturer wiring diagram for line, load, and neutral connections, and do not exceed the rated load capacity of the device.
