The LEGRAND cg816 is a heavy duty deluxe strain relief cord grip designed to secure and protect electrical cables at conduit entry points. Part of the CG Series, this Flexcor cord grip features a straight male NPT connection in a 1 inch trade size, accepting cable openings from 7/8 to 1 inch. Constructed from aluminum, it delivers durable mechanical protection against pull-out and vibration stress on conductors. Electricians install this fitting where flexible cords or cables enter enclosures, panels, or junction boxes, providing both a secure grip and a weathertight seal at the conduit connection point.
The cg816 is suited for commercial and industrial electrical installations where cable management and strain relief are required at enclosure knockouts. The 1 inch trade size and 7/8 to 1 inch cable opening range accommodate a wide variety of flexible cords and multi-conductor cables commonly found in panel wiring, motor connections, and equipment hookups. The aluminum construction makes it appropriate for environments where corrosion resistance and mechanical strength are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation cord grip for electrical enclosures, junction boxes, and panels accepting a 1 inch trade size straight male NPT fitting.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed electrician. De-energize all circuits and lock out the panel or enclosure before beginning work, in accordance with NFPA 70 (NEC) lockout/tagout requirements. Thread the male NPT connection into the enclosure knockout by hand first, then tighten with an appropriate wrench to achieve a secure, rattle-free fit without over-torquing the aluminum body. Confirm the cable is seated fully through the grip before tightening the clamping mechanism to avoid damaging conductor insulation.
