The LEGRAND 2097-HGLA is a hospital-grade, self-test GFCI duplex receptacle rated at 20 amperes and 125 VAC at 60 Hz. Built from high impact resistant thermoplastic in a light almond finish, it carries a 5-20R configuration with two poles and three wires. The device runs an automatic self-test every three seconds to verify protection status. If the unit fails the internal test, a red LED indicator flashes to signal that replacement is needed. A SafeLock protection feature disconnects power to the face and downstream receptacles if critical internal components are damaged, preventing undetected loss of protection. Licensed electricians install this receptacle in hospital and healthcare facilities where UL hospital-grade certification is required.
This receptacle is suited for hospital, medical, and other healthcare environments requiring hospital-grade GFCI protection at 20-amp, 125-volt circuits. The feed-through wiring configuration allows the device to protect downstream receptacles on the same circuit. A line-load reversal miswire prevention feature ensures no power reaches the face or downstream outlets if the device is wired incorrectly. The auto-ground clip provides a positive ground connection to metal boxes without a separate pigtail. The unit ships with a matching TP26 nylon wall plate in light almond, a self-grounding clip, and captive mounting screws for straightforward installation.
Designed as an OEM-style hospital-grade replacement or new-installation GFCI receptacle for 20-amp, 125-volt, 3-wire branch circuits requiring 5-20R configuration and UL hospital-grade listing.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and applicable local codes. De-energize the circuit at the breaker and verify absence of voltage with a meter before wiring. Back-wire and side-wire terminations are both supported; use the feed-through terminals only when intentional downstream GFCI protection is required. The line and load terminals must not be reversed — the built-in miswire prevention will block power to the device if connected incorrectly.
