The LEGEND VALVE 105-522 is a cast iron Y-strainer designed to remove debris and particulate from piping systems before it reaches valves, meters, pumps, and other inline equipment. Fitted with female NPT (FNPT) end connections on both ports, it installs directly into threaded pipe runs with no additional adapters in standard configurations. The 105-522 carries a 500 psi WOG (water, oil, gas) pressure rating and a 250 psi WSP (working steam pressure) rating, making it suitable for a broad range of commercial and industrial fluid handling applications. A 20-mesh screen captures fine particulate while maintaining adequate flow. Plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this fitting class.
This Y-strainer is used in residential and light commercial plumbing systems, hydronic heating and cooling lines, compressed air distribution, and steam service where upstream particulate protection is required. The 3/8 inch pipe size suits smaller branch lines, instrumentation supply lines, and equipment isolation points. It is manufactured to ANSI and ASME B1.20.1 thread standards, ensuring dimensional conformance with standard NPT fittings throughout North American and ISO-aligned installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation Y-strainer for 3/8 inch threaded pipe systems using FNPT connections in plumbing, hydronic, steam, and light industrial fluid handling applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter following applicable IPC and IFGC codes for the service type. Shut off and depressurize the line completely and allow steam or hot-fluid systems to cool before servicing or replacing the strainer. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to male threads per standard practice before makeup. Orient the Y-strainer so the screen leg points downward when possible to allow sediment to collect and simplify blowdown cleaning.
