The LANG 972M is a 40-piece tap and die set built for threading, re-threading, and thread repair work across inch and metric fastener standards. The set covers UNC, UNF, Metric Coarse, and Metric Fine thread forms, with taps ranging from 1/4-20 to 9/16-18 inch and M6 x 1.00 to M12 x 1.75 metric. Dies span 1/4-20 to 5/8-18 inch and M6 x 1.00 to M12 x 1.75 metric. All taps and dies are carbon steel construction. A metric rethread file is included. The set stores in a plastic carry case and weighs 4.25 pounds. It is well suited to HVAC techs, plumbers, electricians, and general mechanical tradespeople who need a broad thread range in a single kit.
This set is designed for shops and field technicians who regularly work with both SAE and metric fasteners. Use appropriate cutting fluid when tapping or threading to extend tool life and produce cleaner threads, especially in steel. Always back the tap out periodically to clear chips and prevent binding or breakage. Power down and de-energize any equipment before performing thread repair work on electrical enclosures or mechanical assemblies. Inspect worn or damaged threads before cutting to determine whether re-threading or fastener replacement is the correct repair path.
