The LANCASTER PUMP 7-lxdan-1.5bnm is a calcite-based acid neutralizer designed to raise the pH of acidic well water before it enters plumbing systems, fixtures, and water-using appliances. Acidic water corrodes copper pipe, fittings, and water heater tanks over time, leading to pinhole leaks and premature equipment failure. This unit uses calcite filter media — a naturally occurring calcium carbonate material — to neutralize low-pH water passively, without chemical injection or electrical components. Licensed plumbers and water treatment technicians install this unit as part of a whole-house water conditioning system.
This acid neutralizer is suited for residential well water applications where pH readings fall below 7.0. It is typically installed at the point of entry, downstream of a pressure tank and before any additional filtration or softening equipment. The 1.5 cubic foot media capacity makes it appropriate for single-family residential installations with moderate water usage and low-to-moderate acid load. Installations in homes with acidic groundwater — common in regions with granite bedrock or high rainfall — benefit most from this type of passive neutralization media.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation acid neutralizer for residential point-of-entry water treatment systems using standard calcite media tanks.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or certified water treatment professional in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the main water supply and depressurize the system before making any connections. The neutralizer tank should be installed vertically on a stable, level surface with adequate clearance for media replacement and head servicing. Calcite media requires periodic top-off or replacement as it dissolves into the water over time; service intervals depend on water flow rate and incoming pH level.
