The L H Dottie Co VP09 is a 9/16-inch bi-metal variable pitch hole saw designed for cutting through a range of materials encountered in trade work. Bi-metal construction combines a high-speed steel cutting edge with a flexible alloy steel body, delivering durability and resistance to tooth stripout under load. The variable pitch tooth geometry reduces vibration and improves chip clearance, making it well suited for faster, cleaner cuts in metal conduit, pipe, sheet steel, wood, and composite materials. It is sold as a single unit and is a common tool for electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians.
This hole saw is used in residential and light commercial installations where a 9/16-inch opening is required. Typical applications include conduit entry points, pipe penetrations through framing or sheet metal panels, junction box knockouts, and similar trade tasks. The variable pitch design performs across multiple material types without requiring a tool change, making it practical for field work where carrying multiple saws is not ideal.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use hole saw for standard arbor-drive mandrel systems used in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC hole-cutting applications.
Hole saws of this type are installed by electricians, plumbers, and HVAC technicians using a standard drill or hole saw mandrel. Secure the workpiece before cutting and use appropriate eye and hand protection. Follow applicable NEC, IPC, or IFGC clearance requirements when making penetrations in structural or fire-rated assemblies. Do not exceed the drill speed recommended for the material being cut to avoid premature tooth wear.
