The L H Dottie Co GRDI34 is a 3/4 inch insulated ground rod driver designed for driving ground rods into soil during grounding system installations. This tool fits over the top of a ground rod and is struck with a hammer or driving tool to seat the rod to the required depth. The insulated construction helps protect the installer from electrical contact during the driving process. It is a standard piece of hardware for electricians working on grounding electrode systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
The GRDI34 is used wherever a 3/4 inch ground rod needs to be driven to depth, including new construction grounding electrode installations, service entrance upgrades, and supplemental grounding system work. It is suited for use in open ground, compacted soil, and similar field conditions where a manual or pneumatic driving method is applied. Licensed electricians and grounding specialists are the primary users of this tool.
Designed as an OEM-style accessory for use with standard 3/4 inch diameter ground rods in grounding electrode system installations.
Installation of grounding electrode systems must comply with applicable NEC requirements for grounding and bonding. Power down and de-energize any nearby circuits before beginning grounding work. Place the driver securely over the top of the ground rod before applying driving force to prevent slipping. Always verify that the ground rod is driven to the required depth and that all connections are made per code before energizing the system.
