The L H Dottie Co FB7572 is a flexible drill bit measuring 3/4 inch in diameter and 72 inches in length. Flex-A-Bits are engineered for drilling through wall cavities, floor joists, and other structural assemblies where a rigid bit cannot reach or navigate. The flexible shaft transmits torque around bends and through tight spaces while the cutting tip bores cleanly through wood framing. Electricians and low-voltage installers rely on this type of bit when fishing wire and cable through finished or framed structures without opening walls.
This bit is suited for residential and light commercial rough-in and retrofit work. Common applications include running electrical conductors, data cable, or low-voltage wiring through wood-framed walls, top plates, and floor assemblies. The 72-inch length allows the installer to reach across full stud bays or through multiple framing members in a single pass, reducing the need for multiple access points.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use flexible drill bit compatible with standard 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch chuck electric drills and right-angle drill attachments commonly used in electrical and low-voltage installation work.
Flexible drill bits of this type are typically installed by licensed electricians and low-voltage technicians during rough-in or retrofit wire-fishing operations. Before drilling into any wall, floor, or ceiling assembly, verify the location of utilities, structural members, and fire-blocking to avoid damage or code violations. Use a variable-speed drill and moderate feed pressure to prevent the flexible shaft from kinking or binding inside the cavity. Always follow applicable NEC requirements for protection of conductors passing through framing members.
