The KYOCERA TSR06937 is a cermet-grade indexable turning insert in the TPG322 geometry, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It carries a TN620 cermet substrate with a TiCN coating classification noted as uncoated process, a 3/8-inch (0.3750 inch) inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch (0.0313 inch) corner radius. The triangular shape provides three usable cutting edges, and the positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces on the workpiece. Installation and tool changes are handled by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing operations on steel workpieces, including external turning, facing, chamfering, and boring. Its primary workpiece material designation is Steel (ISO code P), with material grades P01, P10, and P20 indicating applicability across a range of steel hardnesses and feed conditions. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard TPG-style toolholders used in both right-hand and left-hand turning setups. The maximum depth of cut is 0.2167 inch, keeping it oriented toward lighter finishing passes rather than heavy roughing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert in the TPG series, conforming to ANSI and ISO standards (ISO code TPGN160308). Fits standard TPG-style clamp toolholders accepting a 322 insert size. Verify toolholder clearance and seating pocket dimensions before installation.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before placing the new insert, as contamination affects seating accuracy and surface finish. Follow your facility safety procedures and applicable ANSI machining standards when handling sharp-edged carbide and cermet inserts.
