The KYOCERA TSP89025 is a cermet turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the SPG432 ISO code, this insert features a TiCN and NbC coating applied over a cermet substrate, delivering wear resistance and edge stability during steel turning. The square insert geometry provides 4 usable cutting edges, and the positive rake configuration reduces cutting forces. It carries a TN100M grade designation and falls within KYOCERA's GPM series. A 0.5-inch inscribed circle and 3/16-inch thickness make it compatible with standard SPG-style toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for turning applications on steel workpieces, with a primary workpiece material code of P and a material grade classification of P20. It is suited for operations including chamfering, facing, and shouldering. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both left- and right-hand toolholder configurations. The GPM series design targets general-purpose steel turning where consistent edge life and surface finish are required. The clamp holding method pairs with standard SPG-style insert pockets common in indexable toolholder systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for SPG-style indexable toolholders accepting a 432 insert size with clamp-style holding, per ANSI and ISO SPG432 specifications. Primary target workpiece material is steel, material grade P20.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screws specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert. Handle cermet inserts carefully — edges are brittle and can chip if dropped or impacted.
