The KYOCERA TSJ89056 is a cermet turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and boring applications. It carries the ISO designation CPGT3252 with grade TN60, featuring a TiCN and NbC coating on a cermet substrate. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation, this insert delivers consistent performance in tight-tolerance turning operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. It is installed via screw-holding method and is well suited for machinists and toolroom technicians running internal boring and facing operations.
This insert is intended for use in steel and stainless steel turning applications, particularly where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are critical. Its positive rake geometry and CPGT-style profile make it a practical choice for light to medium depths of cut up to 0.125 inches in internal boring and internal facing operations on CNC or manual lathes. The ISOI series designation aligns it with standard ISO and ANSI toolholding systems, making it a versatile fit across common insert toolholders used in production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for standard CPGT-style screw-clamp toolholders conforming to ISO and ANSI CPGT3252 specifications. Primary workpiece materials are steel and stainless steel. Multi-use applications include boring and internal facing.
This insert is installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician using a standard torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper support and prevent edge chipping. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and consult the toolholder manufacturer's documentation for clamping torque guidance.
