The KYOCERA TSJ89037 is a cermet turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC lathe and turning center applications. Manufactured to ISO and ANSI standards, it carries the CNGG4302FR designation with a TN60 cermet grade and a TiCN plus NbC coating classification noted as uncoated process. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a negative rake angle of -15 degrees, and a sharp cutting edge style. With 4 usable cutting edges, a 0.500-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.004-inch corner radius, it is built for high-precision finishing and light to medium roughing passes. Machinists and CNC operators working in production environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for external turning, boring, internal facing, chamfering, and facing operations. The F chip breaker geometry is optimized for steel and stainless steel workpieces, aligning with ISO material grades P01, P10, and P20 and secondary grade M. It performs best in applications demanding tight tolerances and consistent surface finish. The right-hand cutting orientation and clamp-plus-pin holding method make it compatible with standard CNGG-style toolholders used across general-purpose and production turning setups.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CNGG4302FR-style toolholders accepting ISO CNGG inserts with a 0.500-inch inscribed circle and clamp-plus-pin retention. Compatible with applications targeting ISO material grades P01, P10, P20, and M. Multi-use applications include boring, external turning, chamfering, facing, and internal facing.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping pin for wear or debris before seating the insert. Torque the clamp screw to the toolholder manufacturer specification only. Follow shop safety protocols and applicable ANSI machining standards when handling sharp cutting edges.
