The KYOCERA TSJ03700 is an uncoated cermet turning insert in the WBGT style, designed for precision metal turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features an 80-degree trigon insert shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a 5-degree relief angle, providing clean shearing action and reduced cutting forces. The insert carries a TN60 manufacturer grade with a TiCN and NbC coating finish on the cermet substrate. With a corner radius of 0.008 inches and an inscribed circle of 0.156 inches, it is suited for light-to-medium finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of a screw-held toolholder assembly.
This insert is used primarily in turning applications where the primary workpiece material is steel, with secondary suitability for stainless steel. It falls under material grade designations P01, P10, and P20, covering a range of carbon steels and low-alloy steels in light finishing through semi-finishing cuts. The left-hand configuration suits specific toolholder orientations commonly found in turret and gang-tool setups. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the ISO code WBGT060102L-F, making it interchangeable with equivalent ISO-spec holders in multi-machine shops.

This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians using the appropriate torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Do not overtighten the clamping screw, as cermet substrates are brittle and susceptible to fracture under excessive clamping load. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
