The KYOCERA TSJ03560 is a cermet turning insert in the VNMG331 geometry, manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards under industry standard number VNMG331TN60 and ISO code VNMG160404. Coated with TiCN and NbC, this insert is designed for precision metal removal in external turning, facing, copying, and undercutting operations. It features a 35-degree diamond shape with a negative rake angle, a neutral hand orientation, and a relief angle of 0 degrees. With four available cutting edges and compatibility with clamp and pin holding methods, it suits high-efficiency production environments where cermet's wear resistance and surface finish capability are required.
This insert is intended for use on steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material grades P01, P10, and P20. It is well-suited for light to medium turning applications in CNC lathes and turning centers in both job-shop and production machining environments. Typical users include machinists and CNC operators working on tight-tolerance components requiring consistent surface finishes. The ISOI series designation aligns with standard toolholder compatibility for VNMG geometry inserts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-geometry insert for VNMG-style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 35-degree diamond insert in ISOI series configurations. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and stainless steel as defined by ISO material classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret or toolpost locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use appropriate insert installation tools and torque the clamp or pin per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper support and prevent premature edge failure.
