The KYOCERA TSJ02955 is a cermet turning insert in the TPMR style, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. It carries the TN60 manufacturer grade and features a TiCN plus NbC coating classification listed as uncoated process, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, and a honed cutting edge style. The triangular insert shape provides three usable cutting edges, and the HQ chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during finishing and semi-finishing passes. A corner radius of 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch) makes it well suited for tight-tolerance work on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production turning cells, or maintenance machining environments will find this insert appropriate for external turning, boring, internal facing, copying, and back boring operations.
This insert is primarily intended for cutting steel (ISO material code P) and stainless steel (ISO material code M). It fits into the ISOI series tooling system and matches ISO code TPMR160308HQ. Material grade classifications of P01, P10, and P20 indicate suitability for finishing to light roughing cuts on steel. The insert is held by a clamp-style holding method, which is standard across TPMR-style toolholders. Industry standard number TPMR322HQTN60 can be used for cross-referencing with compatible toolholder catalogs. This product meets both ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Compatible with TPMR-style clamp toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO insert standards. ISO insert code TPMR160308HQ and industry standard number TPMR322HQTN60 should be used to verify correct toolholder fitment. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and stainless steel (M), with material grades P01, P10, and P20 applicable.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Verify that the toolholder pocket and clamp are clean and free of chips before placing the insert, as debris under the insert seat can cause premature edge failure or chatter. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for clamp torque and insert seating confirmation.
