The KYOCERA TSJ02935 is a cermet turning insert in the TPMR style, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the TN60 manufacturer grade and features a TiCN plus NbC coating classification listed as uncoated process, with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a honed cutting edge for clean, consistent chip formation. The triangular insert shape provides 3 cutting edges, an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches, and a corner radius of 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch). It is used in external turning, boring, internal facing, back boring, and copying operations, and is installed by machinists and tooling technicians in production or job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on steel and stainless steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material grades P01, P10, and P20. It fits ISOI-series toolholders that accept TPMR-style inserts with a clamp holding method. The ISO designation for this insert is TPMR160304HQ, and the industry standard number is TPMR321HQTN60. Its multi-use design supports a range of turning applications, making it a practical choice for shops that run varied workpiece materials and geometries on the same setup.
Designed for ISOI-series TPMR-style clamp-type toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle triangular insert. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO code M). Material grades P01, P10, and P20 apply.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret locked before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw per the toolholder manufacturer specification when seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before securing the new insert to ensure proper seating and runout control.
