The KYOCERA TSJ02690 is a TPG-style cermet turning insert designed for precision machining of steel and stainless steel. It features a triangular insert shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The cermet substrate carries a TiCN and NbC coating classification rated as uncoated-process cermet, delivering hardness and wear resistance suited to finishing and semi-finishing passes. With three cutting edges and a positive rake geometry, this insert is built for efficient chip formation at tight tolerances. It is used by machinists and CNC lathe operators working in job shops and production environments.
This insert fits boring, chamfering, external turning, and facing operations. It is rated for primary use on steel workpiece materials in material grades P01, P10, and P20, and is also suitable for secondary use on stainless steel. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand and left-hand toolholders that accept TPG-style inserts. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO code TPGN160308, making it interchangeable with other inserts to that designation. The insert is sold individually but requires a minimum order of 10 units per purchase.
Designed for use in toolholders that accept TPG322-style inserts held by clamp (insert holding method: Clamp, clearance code P, tolerance code G). Compatible with ANSI and ISO standard TPG insert seats. Suitable for steel workpiece materials at material grades P01, P10, and P20, and secondary use on stainless steel.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping hardware for wear or debris before installing a fresh edge. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.2167 inches for this insert geometry.
