The KYOCERA TSJ02680 is a TPG-style cermet turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual turning operations. It features a triangular insert shape with a 60-degree included angle, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The insert is manufactured from cermet material with a TiCN and NbC coating classification listed as uncoated process, providing wear resistance suited for finish and semi-finish turning. It carries a positive rake geometry, a clearance code of P, and a tolerance code of G. Licensed machinists and CNC operators typically install this insert in compatible toolholders for external turning, facing, chamfering, and boring applications.
This insert is rated for use on steel as the primary workpiece material and stainless steel as a secondary workpiece material, with a material grade range of P01, P10, and P20. It is suited for light to moderate depth-of-cut operations up to 0.2167 inches. Typical applications include finish turning on production lathes and machining centers where tight tolerances and surface finish are priorities. The insert is held by a clamp-style toolholder per ISO and ANSI standards, and its multi-use design supports boring, chamfering, external turning, and facing in a single insert geometry.
Designed for use in clamp-style toolholders accepting TPG321 inserts per ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces within material grade classifications P01, P10, and P20. ISO code TPGN160304 and industry standard number TPG321TN60 apply.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating to ensure proper insert support and prevent premature edge failure. Follow ANSI and ISO toolholder guidelines for correct insert orientation and clamp engagement.
