The KYOCERA TSJ02270 is a triangular cermet turning insert designed for precision metal cutting operations on steel workpieces. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, this insert carries the TN60 grade designation and features a TiCN plus NbC coating classification with an uncoated finish process. The insert measures 0.4334 inches in length with a 0.25 inch inscribed circle and a 0.0938 inch thickness. A corner radius of 0.008 inches and a positive rake geometry support clean chip formation and consistent surface finish on ferrous materials. Holding method is screw-style, and the neutral hand orientation allows flexible setup across a range of toolholders.
This insert is suited for steel turning applications including external turning, boring, internal facing, copying, and back boring. It is classified under material grades P01, P10, and P20, making it appropriate for finishing to medium roughing passes on steel. The three cutting edges per insert and the 60-degree included angle conform to ISOI series toolholder pockets. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production turning centers, or maintenance machining environments will find this insert compatible with standard triangular screw-lock toolholders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for ISOI-series triangular screw-lock toolholders. ISO code TPGB110202 and industry standard number TPGB21505TN60 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder pockets.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate torque wrench and screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the clamping screw to avoid seat damage. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Index to the next cutting edge or replace the insert when surface finish or dimensional tolerance begins to degrade.
