The KYOCERA TSJ01930 is a cermet-grade indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. Formed in a 60-degree triangle (TNGG style) with a negative rake angle of -14 degrees, this insert delivers controlled chip formation during finishing and semi-finishing passes. The TN60 cermet grade features a TiCN and NbC coating classification and provides 6 cutting edges per insert, maximizing tool life per unit cost. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, insert length is 0.6501 inches, and the corner radius is 0.0313 inches (1/32 inch). Insert thickness is 0.1875 inches (3/16 inch). This insert is held using a clamp and pin method, compatible with standard ISO and ANSI toolholders.
The TSJ01930 is suited for external turning, facing, boring, chamfering, copying, and up-facing operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Its primary workpiece material classification is P (steel), with secondary classification M (stainless steel), covering material grades P01, P10, and P20. It is a multi-use insert applicable across a broad range of turning center setups in production and job-shop environments. The honed cutting edge style makes it well suited to light-to-moderate depth-of-cut finishing work where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2167 inches.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement and standard OEM-style insert for ANSI and ISO TNGG-style toolholders. ISO code equivalent is TNGG160408R-C. Industry standard number is TNGG332RCTN60. Compatible toolholders must accept a 0.150-inch hole diameter and clamp-and-pin holding method.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when tightening the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for wear or debris before seating the insert.
