The KYOCERA TSJ00259 is a CNMG-style cermet turning insert engineered for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning operations. Carrying the TN60 manufacturer grade, this insert features a TiCN plus NbC coating classification on a cermet substrate, delivering consistent performance in finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape with a negative rake angle of -10 degrees, a honed cutting edge, and four usable cutting edges per insert. The corner radius measures 0.0080 inches, insert length is 0.5000 inches, and insert thickness is 0.1875 inches. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards and carries ISO code CNMG120402GP.
This insert is suited for external turning, boring, facing, internal facing, and chamfering operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Material grade designations P01, P10, and P20 confirm its primary application in steel cutting with secondary capability on stainless steel. The GP chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across a range of depths of cut up to 0.1667 inches. It is intended for production environments where dimensional consistency and insert-to-insert repeatability are required. Holding method is clamp and pin, compatible with standard CNMG toolholders.
Designed for use in standard CNMG toolholders accepting a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle insert with clamp and pin retention. Compatible with primary workpiece material Steel (P-grade) and secondary workpiece material Stainless Steel (M-grade). Multi-use application includes boring, external turning, chamfering, facing, and internal facing.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all motion is locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp; an improperly seated insert can fracture under cutting load. Verify toolholder pocket condition and clean any chips or debris from the seating surface prior to each insert change.
