The KYOCERA TSJ00252 is a CCMT-style cermet turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the TN60 manufacturer grade and features a TiCN plus NbC coating classification listed as uncoated process, with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a honed cutting edge style. The 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting geometry suited for steel finishing and semi-finishing operations. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the HQ chip breaker geometry helps manage chip flow during continuous turning passes. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and machine-tool technicians recognize this geometry as a reliable choice for tight-tolerance external and internal turning work.
This insert is intended for steel workpiece materials, classified under material grade P01, P10, and P20, covering a range from finishing to light roughing in carbon and alloy steels. Typical applications include external turning, boring, facing, internal facing, and chamfering. The screw-holding method suits standard CCMT toolholders, and the neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to common right- and left-hand setups. Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment for CCMT-style screw-clamp toolholders accepting an 80-degree diamond insert with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle. Compatible with P01, P10, and P20 material grade applications in steel turning. ISO code CCMT09T308HQ and industry standard number CCMT3252HQTN60 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machine operators or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench for the clamp screw to avoid insert cracking or improper seating — refer to the toolholder manufacturer torque specification, not a generic value. Verify insert orientation and chip breaker facing direction before resuming cuts, and inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris that could affect insert seating.
