The KYOCERA TSJ00248 is a CCMT-style cermet turning insert designed for precision material removal in CNC and manual turning applications. Carrying the TN60 manufacturer grade, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a honed cutting edge for clean, consistent performance on steel workpieces. The TiCN plus NbC coating classification is listed as uncoated process, and the cermet substrate provides a balance of hardness and thermal resistance suited to finish and semi-finish turning operations. Holding is accomplished via screw clamp, and the insert is neutral-handed for flexible toolholder compatibility. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
This insert is intended for use on steel workpieces in material grade ranges P01, P10, and P20. Typical applications include external turning, boring, chamfering, facing, and internal facing. The HQ chip breaker geometry is optimized for finish-to-semi-finish cuts on steel, making this insert a practical choice for production turning cells and job-shop environments where consistent surface finish and edge life are priorities. Designed for use in CCMT-compatible screw-clamp toolholders. ISO code CCMT09T304HQ and industry standard number CCMT3251HQTN60 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder systems. Suitable for P-class (steel) workpiece materials per ISO material grade designations P01, P10, and P20.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician following the toolholder manufacturer's torque and seating guidelines for CCMT screw-clamp inserts. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before indexing or replacing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.125 inches to avoid insert fracture or premature edge failure.
