The KYOCERA TLD02205 is a cermet turning insert in the CPMH321 PV720 configuration, engineered for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a TiCN Megacoat Nano PVD coating applied over a cermet substrate, delivering a hard, wear-resistant cutting surface suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert carries an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius. With a positive rake geometry and 11-degree relief angle, it reduces cutting forces and promotes cleaner chip control. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is designed for turning, boring, and internal facing applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. Its primary workpiece material is steel, with stainless steel listed as the secondary workpiece material. It is suited to material grades P01, P10, and P20, making it appropriate for light to medium-duty passes on ferrous materials in production and job-shop environments. The ISOI series designation and CPMH insert style are consistent with toolholders designed around that ISO and ANSI standard form factor. Each package contains one insert, with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed for use with CPMH-style screw-clamp toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Rated for steel (P) and stainless steel (M) workpiece materials at material grades P01, P10, and P20. Suitable for boring and internal facing operations as noted in the multi-use application data. ISO code CPMH090304 and industry standard number CPMH321PV720 can be used to cross-reference compatible toolholder bodies.
Turning insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered off and in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Use the correct torque driver or Torx key for the insert clamping screw per the toolholder manufacturer specifications — do not overtighten or use improvised tools, as this can crack the insert or damage the toolholder pocket. Inspect the insert pocket seat and shim for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Verify proper insert orientation and hand before resuming cuts.
