The KYOCERA TLC04351 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying the LOMU100408ER-SM geometry and PR1535 grade designation, designed for high-performance face and shoulder milling applications. Coated with KYOCERA MEGACOAT NANO via a PVD process, it delivers thermal resistance and edge durability in demanding cuts. The insert measures 10.90 mm in length, 6.60 mm in width, and 4.00 mm in thickness, with a 0.80 mm corner radius and a 90-degree included angle. Four cutting edges are available per insert, and the right-hand, positive-rake geometry reduces cutting forces on the spindle. The ER-SM chip breaker is optimized for controlled chip evacuation in tough materials.
This insert is intended for use in milling operations targeting stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium as primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for steel and cast iron. It is held by screw clamping and is compatible with the MEW and MEWH cutter series. Typical applications include shoulder milling, face milling, and slotting passes where precise edge geometry and coating toughness are required. A single-sided insert, it is suited for both production and maintenance machining environments handled by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
Compatible with MEW and MEWH cutter series bodies. ANSI code LOMU100408ERSMPR1535; ISO code LOMU100408ER-SM. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards for the LOMU style.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard indexable-insert cutter procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or indexing inserts. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the cutter body specification found in the cutter body documentation — do not estimate torque by feel. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to ensure full, flat contact and prevent edge chipping on first engagement.
