Product Description

The KYOCERA TKT03955 is a VPGT-style indexable turning insert in grade PR930, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V), a 3/16 inch inscribed circle, and a 0.008 inch corner radius with a honed cutting edge. The TiCN coating is applied via PVD process over a super micrograin solid carbide substrate, delivering sharp, consistent edges suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. With a positive rake angle of 20 degrees and a neutral hand orientation, it is well-suited for external turning, facing, profiling, and internal facing operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers.

This insert is rated primarily for steel (ISO material code P) and secondarily for stainless steel (ISO material code M). Typical applications include external turning, back boring, copying, facing, internal facing, profiling, and undercutting operations. The CK chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-moderate depth cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 0.2101 inches. It fits screw-on insert holders designed for VPGT-style inserts with a 0.0906 inch hole diameter. This insert ships in individual unit packaging with a minimum order quantity of 10.

Key Features

  • PR930 grade super micrograin carbide substrate with TiCN PVD coating for wear resistance on steel and stainless steel
  • 35-degree diamond insert shape (V) with positive rake for reduced cutting forces
  • CK chip breaker geometry supports light finishing to semi-finishing passes
  • Honed cutting edge style for consistent edge prep on both cutting edges
  • Multi-use application: external turning, facing, profiling, back boring, copying, undercutting, and internal facing
  • Complies with ANSI and ISO standards; ISO code VPGT080202CK

Compatibility

Designed for screw-on VPGT-style insert holders accepting a 3/16 inch inscribed circle insert with a 0.0906 inch hole diameter. Compatible with holders conforming to ANSI and ISO VPGT insert seating specifications.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC tool setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the screw-on insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or debris before seating the insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
