The KYOCERA TKE10533 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision groove turning and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. This insert carries the GDM4020PM geometry with a PR1225 grade Megacoat PVD coating, delivering consistent performance on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The neutral hand orientation and positive rake angle of 3 degrees reduce cutting forces and improve chip flow. With a cutting width of 0.1575 inches (4.00 mm) and a corner radius of 0.0118 inches (0.30 mm), this insert is suited for tight-tolerance grooving where edge consistency and surface finish are critical. It is installed and indexed by licensed machinists and CNC toolroom professionals.
This insert is primarily applied in grooving, parting, and profiling operations where the primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P) and the secondary workpiece material is stainless steel (ISO material code M). The GD series geometry and PM chipbreaker design make it well-suited for medium-feed finishing and semi-finishing cuts. Typical use cases include external groove turning on shafts, bearing seats, and hydraulic component blanks in production and job-shop environments. The Megacoat PVD finish supports extended tool life in continuous and light interrupted cuts.
Designed for use in clamp-style grooving toolholders compatible with GD series inserts. Fits toolholders accepting the GDM4020 insert size. Confirm toolholder seating geometry and clamping method before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
