The KYOCERA TKC09473 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert designed for use in indexable drilling operations on CNC machining centers and drill presses. This insert carries the ZCMT10T304 ANSI designation and is manufactured in the PR1230 grade with a PVD-applied coating for extended tool life. The diamond-shaped geometry provides four cutting edges, maximizing the number of indexes per insert. At 0.4724 inches in length, 0.4094 inches in width, and 0.1563 inches in thickness, this insert is engineered to seat precisely in KYOCERA DRZ-series drill bodies. The positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces, and the 7-degree relief angle supports clean chip evacuation in hole-making applications.
This insert is intended for drilling steel and stainless steel workpieces in production and job-shop environments. The PR1230 grade and PVD coating are well matched to P-class and M-class workpiece materials as defined by ISO cutting tool standards. Right-hand cutting direction makes it compatible with conventional spindle rotation on standard machining centers and lathes with live tooling. Machinists and CNC operators working in steel fabrication, aerospace, and general metalworking will find this insert suited to moderate-to-high feed drilling cycles. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 pieces.
Designed for use in KYOCERA DRZ-series indexable drill bodies that accept ZCMT10T304 style inserts. Verify insert pocket geometry and torque spec against the DRZ drill body documentation before installation.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is stopped, the machine is in an E-stop state, and all energy is locked out before handling inserts or adjusting tooling. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer to torque the clamp screw — do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
