The KYOCERA TKB09474 is a solid carbide indexable drill insert engineered for precision drilling applications in demanding materials. Conforming to ANSI code ZCMT12T306 PR1225 and ISO code ZCMT12T306, this insert features a diamond shape with a positive rake angle and a 7-degree relief angle. The PVD-coated PR1225 micrograin carbide grade delivers consistent edge performance when drilling stainless steel and steel workpieces. With four cutting edges and a right-hand cutting direction, it is designed to maximize tool life and reduce cost per hole in production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in metalworking shops are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is intended for use in the KYOCERA DRZ series indexable drill bodies and is suited to both stainless steel and steel workpiece materials. Its ZCMT12 insert style fits applications where a secure, repeatable seat is required in high-feed drilling operations. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel (material code M), with steel (material code P) as the secondary application. It is well suited to production drilling in aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking environments where consistency across multiple cutting edges is critical.
Designed for use with KYOCERA DRZ series indexable drill bodies accepting ZCMT12 style inserts. Primary workpiece material compatibility is stainless steel (M) and steel (P).
Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use an appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the drill body manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque on the insert screw. Inspect the insert pocket seat for chips or damage before seating a new insert, as debris in the pocket can cause premature insert failure or dimensional inaccuracy. Follow the drill body manufacturer guidelines for insert orientation to ensure the cutting edge is correctly positioned for right-hand rotation.
