The KYOCERA TCS89031 is a ceramic turning insert designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. Manufactured to ISOI series standards and cataloged under ISO code DNGA431T00625, this insert features an Al2O3 and TiC/TiN ceramic composite with a PVD coating process applied over a 55-degree diamond shape. The neutral hand orientation, combined with a negative rake geometry and a 4-cutting-edge configuration, allows for maximum insert utilization. At 1.182 inches in length with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and a 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch) corner radius, it is built to deliver consistent performance in tight-tolerance turning operations on hard workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for external turning, boring, and copying operations on hard materials (ISO material grade H, including H01 and H10 classifications). It is intended for use by machinist trades and CNC lathe operators running production or job-shop environments where insert geometry consistency and coating durability on hard materials are critical. The clamp and pin holding method provides secure seating in compatible toolholders. Applications include finishing and semi-finishing passes where controlled depth of cut and edge geometry repeatability are required.
Designed for use in DNGA-style insert seats meeting ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with clamp and pin style toolholders accepting a 55-degree diamond insert with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, 3/16 inch insert thickness, and a 0.2032 inch hole diameter. Suitable for multi-use applications including boring, copying, and external turning on hard workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Verify toolholder seat cleanliness before seating the insert to prevent microfracture from debris under the insert body. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for this insert geometry when programming toolpaths on hard materials.
