The KYOCERA TCS61100 is a WNGA-style ceramic turning insert designed for machining hard materials in demanding cutting applications. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, this insert features an Al2O3 and TiC plus TiN PVD coating that extends tool life and improves wear resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The trigon 80-degree insert geometry provides six usable cutting edges per insert, reducing tooling cost per edge. It carries a neutral hand designation and is suited for use in indexable toolholders that accept clamp and pin retention systems. Machining professionals in production and job-shop environments install this insert for finishing and semi-finishing operations on hard workpiece materials.
This insert is engineered for hard material machining, corresponding to ISO material grade codes H01 and H10. It supports multiple cutting operations including external turning, boring, chamfering, facing, and internal facing. The 0.5000-inch inscribed circle and 0.1875-inch insert thickness place it in a mid-size indexable insert category. The 1/64-inch corner radius and negative rake geometry make it appropriate for rigid setups where surface finish and edge stability are priorities.
Designed for use in indexable toolholders accepting WNGA-style inserts with a 0.5000-inch inscribed circle, clamp and pin retention, and a 0.2032-inch hole diameter. Intended for hard material workpieces at ISO material grade H01 and H10.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Always index or replace the insert with the machine fully stopped and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping hardware for wear before seating a new insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for this insert geometry, as ceramic inserts are brittle and susceptible to fracture under shock loading or interrupted cuts without proper setup.
