The KYOCERA TCS61071 is a ceramic turning insert designed for high-speed machining of hard materials on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to VNGA geometry with a 35-degree diamond shape, this insert carries a PVD-applied Al2O3 and TiC coating for thermal resistance and edge durability. It measures 16 millimeters in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The neutral hand orientation and negative rake angle make it suited for rigid, high-pressure turning setups where insert stability is critical. Machinists and CNC operators use this insert for external turning, facing, copying, and undercutting operations on hardened workpiece materials.
The TCS61071 is intended for turning operations on hard materials, classified under ISO and ANSI workpiece material grades H01 and H10. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning of hardened steel, hard alloys, and similarly difficult-to-machine materials. The four available cutting edges extend tool life per insert. Multi-use geometry supports copying, external turning, facing, and undercutting in a single insert style. This insert fits lathe toolholders designed for VNGA-style inserts and is held using either a clamp or pin retention method.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use insert for VNGA-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 0.150-inch hole diameter, and clamp or pin retention. Industry standard number VNGA332T00625A66N.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine in a full stop and locked-out state before handling. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert. Use the appropriate clamp or pin hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert; do not overtighten clamping hardware beyond toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify insert orientation and depth-of-cut settings against the programmed toolpath before resuming machine operation.
